In Modena we can meet Massimo Bottura who has been awarded as the best chef in the world.
Here food and wine produce unique excellence, such as Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese, Parma Ham, Wines and much more.
Furthermore, in this prestigious setting you can find the most beloved motor brands in the world: Lamborghini, Ferrari, Pagani, Maserati, Ducati and Yamaha.
Today, we have the honor to interview great Ferruccio Lamborghini’s nephew, Mr. Fabio Lamborghini.
Mr. Lamborghini, what is Motor Valley?
Motor Valley is that vast area located in Emilia Romagna where car and motorcycle manufacturers were born.
Concentrated in a small area of just forty kilometers, you can find the biggest brands of touring car manufacturers and supercars among the most important in the world: Lamborghini, Ferrari, De Tomaso, Maserati, Pagani, as well as Ducati for motorcycles. In Motor Valley you can find the best of engine technologies, from pre-war up to present times.
How will Lamborghini arrive to build his supercars?
Let’s start from the origins, in 1947 my uncle Ferruccio Lamborghini, son of a farmer, when he is about thirty years old, decides to improve agriculture by designing a cheap tractor that did not exist at the time and thus accessible to everybody.
He will succeed in modifying American and British foreign military jeeps, making a great transformation, using the same mechanics genially transformed from petrol to oil.
It was a great success for this industry and will also be for the second industry in 1960 in the heating, burner, boilers and air conditioners sector.
Now Lamborghini has become a rich industrial man and has the opportunity to buy those powerful and fast cars that he could not afford as a kid. He bought all various brands including Mercedes, Jaguar, Maserati and Ferrari.
He was not totally satisfied though, especially of his 250 GT Ferrari and after an argument with Enzo Ferrari, he decides to build his own Granturismo cars autonomously.
Therefore in 1963 he founded Lamborghini Automobili in Sant’Agata Bolognese and from that moment he will produce among the fastest cars with aspirated engines in the world.
What is Fabio Lamborghini doing today?
Today, after 34 years of activity in one of Ferruccio Lamborghini’s companies and 20 years as director of the family museum, I continue to celebrate the memory of my uncle in Italy, in Europe and in the world.
I get called as guest by various events to explain the story of this “Bull” brand.
With events I mean corporate events, fairs, private parties, motoring events, dinners, lunches, any occasion to celebrate Ferruccio Lamborghini and his unmistakable brand.
What does it mean to offer a full dipping in the history of Ferruccio Lamborghini?
An example of a typical day that could be defined as “LAMBODAY” could start from a lunch during which I narrate the family history from its origins.
In this time of almost two hours, I tell everything about the initial part of Ferruccio Lamborghini companies.
Then I accompany the tourists to the Lamborghini museum in which I personally offer the guided tour presenting all that the museum collects and telling also curiosity and unpublished aspects which are not written in books. The visit lasts about an hour.
Then we move on to the guided tour of Lamborghini production. This is the magic where you can see the birth of these prestigious supercars, Huracan and Aventador, which are the top range. Focus is also on the fact that you will soon be able to visit the production of the new and powerful Suv URUS whose deliveries will start from spring.
What do you think about the modern Lamborghini, in consideration of the fact that the company does not belong to your family anymore?
“Lamborghini factory” belonged to my family for a decade with great success, incredible machines, above all, Miura and Countach. It had then several owners.
Today’s Lamborghini is represented by Audi which is part of the Volkswagen group and has owned it since 1998.
I believe that of all owners which came after my family, this is certainly the most important and the one that has most believed and invested in the brand of the “Bull”. They made it grow starting from excellent bases such as design, engines and innovation, adding the German excellence.
Thanks to this synergy, Audi has strengthened the brand exponentially, making it reach the best position in the context of world supercars.
So thanks to Audi, for believing in our brand and keeping it always at the top positions.
I thank Cavallottitravel (www.cavallottitravel.com) for this interview with which we will continue to offer the interesting experience here in the Motor Valley, with “LAMBODAY” to the tourists.
